We went to the doctor today and he gave me some very important information on what will happen when I get to the hospital. First, I will have an enema (no shitting on the delivery table ... dammit!). Next, I will be given IVs. I am SO excited about both of those. I think the enema will be less of a pain in the ass (ahah) than the IV. I've never been given an IV while awake (the one time was when I had my wisdom teeth pulled and they knocked me out with gas ... which was hilarious ... in order to put in the IV).
I'm not looking forward to being in the hospital at all. I'd much rather just get the baby out and then come home. I know it will probably be a nice time to rest, but I'm going to have the baby in the room with me (to help establish good breast feeding and also to ensure that the nurses aren't secretly giving him sugar water or formula). Regardless, it'll make coming home a huge treat! It will be interesting to see how the cats react when I come home with the baby. The new smells will be intoxicating! I'm sure that I can make them forget by giving them some treats and cat nip!!
The baby is now 6 pounds, which is great. He'll be about 7 or 7.5 pounds when he's born. I'm glad he won't be a huge whale of a baby! I wouldn't want to push anything bigger than that out of my body (although if he's late, I'll have no choice ...). He's still head down, but the umbilical cord is wrapped around his neck. I heard that's normal ... but it still scares me. Hopefully everything will be okay during labour and delivery!!
All of his clothes (for the first 3 months anyways), cloth diapers accessories, bedding, towels, clothes, etc. I've still got to clean his toys and do one final wipe down of all the furniture (will do that closer to when he's actually here ... possibly something to keep me occupied while I'm in early labour! haha).
I've still got a few books left to read. When I actually sit down and do it, I can read an entire book in a day (THANK YOU UNIVERSITY). I'll probably be able to teach courses on labour, delivery, breastfeeding, and how to take care of an infant for the first year by the time I'm done reading all these damn books! Although the practical experience will be a little helpful!!
I'm getting very excited about having the baby! Last night I dreamed I was biting his foot! I also dreamed about cleaning shitty diapers ... the foot biting part was better! The shit was nasty (but I managed to get out all the stains from the cloth diapers in my dream, so at least it was a successful shit dream).
