Baby Alex and I took our first plane trip together! I'll never forget how he rested in my belly for the majority of the flight. He was clearly bothered by the sounds and the movements. His body shifted completely over to the right side of mine! My stomach was protruding out on the right and looked relatively flat on the left. He remained in that position for pretty much the entire flight, except when I walked to the bathroom and did some stretches. It was very uncomfortable, to say the least.
I dropped slightly while there. It was quite scary for me, the entire trip. I was worried that I'd go into labour and have to stay in Canada until his birth certificate and passport were all in order. I didn't want to write a blog in case I "jinxed" it! Needless to say he stayed in my belly. He's not ready to face the world just yet!
Normal North American baby items are really hard to find here and are usually quite expensive, so I did an insane amount of shopping while in Canada (and was given some fabulous gifts from some GREAT people ... and don't you worry, I've got a little thank you gift for all of you!!). My last night was spent trying to figure out how to organise all of the stuff I acquired. I ended up with one very large suitcase jam packed (23kg) and a douffle bag (7kg) with only baby stuff. It seems excessive, but there are enough clothes, toys, and everything a baby could need, to last for the first 6 months!
I've now got one month until he is due! There is still so much to prepare. I organised all of his clothes and other items two days ago and now my mission is to clean all of the items he'll be using in the first few months. It's kind of a pain in the ass already to not have a dryer, but you gotta do what you gotta do!! I have to accept the fate of constantly having clothes and diapers hanging up to dry. It would be easier if I had a dryer though and I still might buy one ... I'd just like to see how it goes with this for now.
