First Day of Spring!!

Winter is finally over! It sort of seems like it, at a nice 12 degrees. These past two weekends were great! We were able to take Alex out for a walk on the Han River in his stroller (without the car seat ... it's possible, but I still think he's too small for that). He also went to the St. Patrick's Day celebration in Insadong! It has been a big week.

My little guy is now 100 days old. If we were Korean, we'd now be allowed to leave the house. I couldn't imagine being held prisoner in my home for the amount of time Alex has already been outside of the womb. I'd have gone crazy!!!

Work is work. My co-teacher is lazy, can't speak English well, and doesn't communicate important things with me. When she does tell me things, they're wrong and I end up looking like a fucking retard. She also has not helped at all in setting up the classroom and whenever it's just her and I in the room, she sits at the computer, sends text messages, and basically shows a complete lack of interest in the children. I am giving this one month and if it doesn't change, I am going to put in notice and quit. It will be sad for those children, since they are all falling in love with me (and I'm falling in love with them). But I will not stay in a position where I'm stuck working with a useless tool.

The breast milk situation is still great. I've got well over 200 ounces in the freezer and am making another 20-30 ounces a day (while Alex eats roughly 10 ounces the time I'm gone). I'm starting to pump more often now, after feedings and before I go to bed (since Alex sleeps 10 hours in a row and has been sleeping that much for the past 2 months). However, I am super paranoid about its use, so only take out about 10 ounces a day. His regular sitter has been over feeding him while she's here and then leaving nothing for his other sitter (who comes for an hour three times a week). On Friday, she took out a 6 ounce bag (even though there was a smaller 3 ounce bag right in front of all the others - no idea the logic there) and then gave Alex a FREEZING bottle that had ice chips. It took me 30 minutes to calm him and another hour for him to stop that pit in your stomach sob. As a result of that terrible situation, I have decided to buy soy based formula. It will ONLY be used in a case where there's no milk unfrozen and Alex is demanding food NOW. It will be quick, easy, and will only happen once in a blue moon. I want all of his nutrients to come from me, but I have to have something there just in case. It's better than him going through the stress of being given a freezing bottle. That really pissed me off.

Now I need to figure out a situation that will work because the pump I have at work doesn't work properly again - either I will have to buy another GOOD Medela In Style double pump or have to carry mine to work and home every day.

Alex is still cute as ever - growing like crazy, laughing, talking, etc. It's amazing to see him change and grow. His hair is even getting longer. I study it intently every day and have found just one long hair. It's so cute!! Hehehe

Oh and while we were out for the St. Patty's Day celebrations, we were bombarded by Koreans left, right, and centre - they were so amazed to see such a cute little boy! They kept complimenting on his cuteness and when he was awake, their jaws literally dropped because they couldn't believe how beautiful his eyes are.

Life as a foreigner mom in Korea isn't really that bad. I don't know anything else, so it's not really a huge deal. I guess we just get more attention here than we would back home (that's great for Alex because he's an extremely popular boy!!).
